چکیده

On 24 January 2020, a devastating earthquake struck the town of Sivrice in Elazığ province at 20:55 local time (17:55 UTC), resulting 41 death and significant loss property. The magnitude was determined to be Mw 6.8 strong shaking main shock lasted about 20 seconds. triggered 30 landslides over an area ~55 km2. This article presents preliminary results comprehensive study on mapping distribution landslides, lateral spreading other ground damaged effects by occurred East Anatolian Fault. Following earthquake, based detailed on-ground field studies: (1) produced fewer than empirical prediction for shallow earthquakes these magnitudes (Mw 6.8) would suggest; (2) extensive Holocene age river banks, result tears, opening surface cracks fissure flat ground; (3) primary rupture not earthquake.

Optimized volume models of earthquake-triggered landslides

In this study, we proposed three optimized models for calculating the total volume of landslides triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan, China Mw 7.9 earthquake. First, we calculated the volume of each deposit of 1,415 landslides triggered by the quake based on pre- and post-quake DEMs in 20 m resolution. The samples were used to fit the conventional landslide "volume-area" power law relationship and t...

Crustal structure of the North Anatolian and East Anatolian Fault Systems from magnetotelluric data

Magnetotelluric (MT) studies can map subsurface resistivity structure and have located zones of low resistivity (high conductivity) within major strike-slip fault zones worldwide which have been interpreted as regions of elevated fluid content. This study describes MT data from the eastern part of the North Anatolian and the East Anatolian Fault Systems (NAFS and EAFS) and presents the results ...

Landslides triggered by the Gorkha earthquake in the Langtang valley, volumes and initiation processes

The Gorkha earthquake (Nepal, 2015, Mw 7.9) triggered many landslides. The most catastrophic mass movement was a debris avalanche that buried several villages in the Langtang valley. In this study, questions are raised about its volume and initiation. I investigate the possibility of high-resolution digital surface models computed from tri-stereo SPOT6/7 images to resolve this issue. This high-...

Distribution Pattern of Landslides Triggered by the 2014 Ludian Earthquake of China: Implications for Regional Threshold Topography and the Seismogenic Fault Identification

The 3 August 2014 Ludian earthquake with a moment magnitude scale (Mw) of 6.1 induced widespread landslides in the Ludian County and its vicinity. This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the distribution patterns and characteristics of these co-seismic landslides. In total, 1826 landslides with a total area of 19.12 km2 triggered by the 3 August 2014 Ludian earthquake were visually interp...
